Exhibition view at A-Lab in Amagasaki City. I created this site-specific work with 15 students from Sonoda Women's University in Amagasaki City. First, we drew with drawing tools that captured lines and shapes from an excavation site map related to the university’s history (Upon building the campus, ruins were discovered). Then on top of the first layer, we drew with drawing tools made from lines and shapes gathered within the city today. We chose charcoal to draw with and repeated the process of drawing and erasing. The traces of the charcoal created depth to the work, allowing the audience to experience the passage of time.
